Yeah, it was good with the Romeo and Juliet intro...right up until they started using the music from Jesus Christ Superstar, of which the music was depicting the part where people wewree screaming out 'crucify Him'. WTF is WRONG with people??? You want silence for tsunami victims (which is understandable) and yet you sit there and play music about having Jesus crucified. People should think twice before they act. |

im from melbourne and came to syndeny for the new year. It was pleasing and exciting to witness the spectacular fire works, but unfortunately, the people there were no showing positive spirit making it a bad experience for the rest of us. soo many young rude rebels telling us to shut up when we were screaming because it was the start of the new year. What kind of behaviour is that? i am young, only 16, but i still did not appreciate a 14 year old acting like a 25 year old telling me what to do. Although i was upset i let it go. Then when me and my cousins went back to our car, all of a sudden out nowhere a helicopter came flying down and everyone rushed to the gate to see what had happened. a drunk guy or girl had jumped o the stairs, killing themself instantly. Where were the cops then? |

I have seen every Sydney fireworks display since I was born, This year however I was stuck working in Johannesburg South Africa, I have seen the rest of the word twice over and there is no other place in the world like Sydney, I can quite easily say that it is the greatest city in the world. Because this year there was no wind, the smoke from the fireworks didn't clear and I was hidden behind the smoke. Only way to stop that would be to have no fireworks, and no one seems to want that. |

Well you can never beat Sydney's New Year Eve's celebrations. And why not, afterall every year Sydney sets the standard for New Year celebrations for the rest of the world. However if I compared this year's displays to last year's then I would say this year was a bit pale. As always I was down at the harbour and people were expecting more fireworks as it had suddenly stopped. Much shorter compared to last year. Also people were expecting more out of that giant disco ball. It would have been better ifthere was light shooting out of the ball rather than light reflecting on the ball. The coloured light works last year was fantastic. As you can see the expectations increases each year. Well hope in 2006 you guys come up with something more creative. Maybe try putting the fireworks in the gaint disco ball or something. You might say its impossible, well Sydney is expected to do something which is impossible. |

This is my first year out here and I too expected the fireworks to be more spectacular. The disco ball was very disappointing. I have enjoyed my time here in Australia for the past 10 months and was really looking forward to my time on the harbour with my friends which I enjoyed immensely but my expectations were let down slightly. I hope I shall be around for a more spectacular show next year!! I did have a great New Year other than that and wish everyone a very prosperous New Year!!! |

Please remember what happened only a few days before our NYE.....To be honest i felt the same as u and being heavy into disco i thought they could've done more disco music ...Anyways I think they did tone it down alot cos of the tsunami in Asia, lets hope that next year our beautiful city and harbour will again put on the greatest show on earth on NYE!!! |

Does anyone have the stats on the disco ball? I heard that it's supposed to be about 20m in diameter and has 354 pinwheels. I walked past it the other night whilst crossing the bridge and up close, it is huge!, yet looked so tiny against the backdrop of the bridge and the fireworks. I'm just curious to know how big those pinwheels actaully are and how much the whole thing weighs. |
