Yerranderie
 |
Overview: Yerranderie features an abandoned silver mine, bush and more bush.
|
|
Getting there: It's just to the east of Mt Colong, near the Bindook navigational aid.
The purple circle on the map shows its rough position.
Finding it is fairly easy: fly south along lake Burragorang and turn west at Tonalli Point, the green circle on the map.

First looks: Here it is looking from the east.
The landing strip is at the base of Yerranderie Peak, with Mt Colong in the background.
It's a private airstrip, so you'll need to get permission and pay a landing fee of approx $15 per passenger.
The contact details are on
Yerranderie's web site.

The landing strip: Here it is from the north-west.
It's pretty rough for a plane, so leave the Corporate Jet in the hangar.
There is a windsock in the centre of the field on the northern side of the strip.
Please avoid hovering near the centre of the field because it blows dirt into the house adjacent to the strip.

Explore: Wandering around the ghost town is great fun.
There's an old post office, tailor's shop, boarding house and umpteen silver mines.
We suggest allowing a few hours at least.
